How can we help?

Wend for iPhone and Apple Watch

Most issues with a GPS tracking app come down to one of a handful of causes. Start here — and if none of it helps, email is at the bottom and it is read by a person.

Recording trips

My route looks jagged, or the distance seems wrong

GPS accuracy varies with your surroundings. Tall buildings, tree cover, tunnels and multi-storey car parks all degrade it. A few things genuinely help:

  • Wait 10–20 seconds after opening the app before you start, so the GPS fix settles.
  • Turn off Low Power Mode — iOS throttles location updates when it is on.
  • Keep your phone out of a metal frame bag or a deep pocket if you can.
  • Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Wend, and make sure Precise Location is on.

Wend discards readings that are worse than 25 metres of accuracy and ignores physically implausible jumps, so a bad fix usually shows up as a gap rather than a spike.

Recording stopped when I locked my phone

Wend keeps recording with the screen off, but iOS needs the right permission for that. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Wend and confirm it is set to While Using the App with Precise Location enabled. You should see a blue indicator in the status bar while a trip is recording.

Also check that Background App Refresh is not disabled globally, and that Low Power Mode is off for long rides.

My trip wasn't saved

Wend discards trips shorter than 50 metres, so a trip that never really started will not appear.

Otherwise, a completed trip is written to storage when you press Stop. While recording, Wend also saves a local recovery checkpoint about every 10 seconds and whenever the app enters the background. If iOS terminates the app or you swipe it away, the next launch restores the trip in a paused state. Resume or stop it after checking the map; at most, changes since the most recent checkpoint may be missing.

Apple Watch

The watch app doesn't start when I begin a trip

Apple Watch tracking is a Wend Premium feature. If you are subscribed and it still isn't launching:

  1. Confirm the Wend watch app is installed — check the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Wend and allow all requested categories, on both iPhone and Watch.
  3. Make sure both devices are unlocked and paired, and that Bluetooth is on.
  4. Restart both devices if the connection seems stuck.
Heart rate isn't showing on my trips

Heart rate requires that the trip was recorded with the Wend watch app running, and that HealthKit permission has been granted. Check Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Wend and confirm heart rate reading is enabled. Wear the watch snugly on the top of your wrist — a loose band is the most common cause of missing readings.

Wend Premium

How do I cancel my subscription?

On your iPhone: Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Wend → Cancel Subscription. You can also manage subscriptions through your App Store account.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Premium features until the end of the period you have already paid for.

I paid but Premium isn't active

Open Wend's Settings screen and tap the Premium row, then Restore Purchases. Your subscription is tied to your Apple Account, so this also works after reinstalling or switching to a new device.

Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to purchase. If it still doesn't appear after a restore, email us with the date of purchase.

Can I get a refund?

All payments go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple rather than by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no ability to issue refunds directly, but we're happy to help you sort out whatever went wrong.

Data and privacy

Where are my trips stored? Can I get them back after deleting the app?

Complete trips are stored in Wend's private storage on your device. Premium riders can also use Wend's private iCloud Backup; automatic backup is available in Wend Settings and can be switched off at any time. Heart-rate samples and HealthKit workout identifiers stay on the device or in Apple Health and are never included in iCloud Backup.

Deleting the app removes the local copy. A Wend iCloud backup can remain in your Apple account and can restore trip history after reinstalling, but it cannot restore heart-rate data. To remove that copy too, use Delete iCloud Backup in Wend Settings before deleting the app. The Developer cannot browse or recover your private backup for you.

The cycling path overlays are empty where I live

Overlay data comes from Singapore's open data portal, data.gov.sg, and currently covers Singapore only. Trip recording itself works anywhere in the world — only the path overlays are region-limited.

How do I change ad or tracking settings?

Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking controls whether apps may request your advertising identifier. Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising controls personalised ads from Apple. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also revisit your consent choices from the privacy options link in the app.

Subscribing to Wend Premium removes ads entirely. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
